Lesson 3 & 4 Chicks and Flying Sparrows
We are having so much fun building upon the basic physical features of the birds. Last Friday we did the color chicks and this week we did the sparrow. I have attached my demonstrations for your reference. If you see your student's paintings hanging on the hall way in school, you will be surprised at how well they follow the instruction. The relationship between the beak and the eyes are still fussy in your student's mind, but as we continue with various kinds of birds, they will catch on.
Next Friday we will perch the sparrows on plum blossom. We will joyfully anticipate the coming of Spring with our painting.

Lesson 2 chicks and rocks
We move forward from last week's pencil drawing and ink outline of the chicks, into 3 simple strokes of head and body while maintaining the walking egg. We emphasized the beak and eye relation, the legs and it's backwards bended knees. Some students are still very frustrated with this challenge of painting birds, but their impression is forming gradually, the repeated focus on various birds eventually will develop their confidence. You may view their paintings displayed on the school hall way. I outlined some of their chicks to show them that it'll all workout.
We also contrasted the wet stroke for the chicks and the dry stroke for the rocks in this lesson. I painted interactively with the students to help them with the form of the rocks. Nex week we will have fun coloring them.

2013 Spring Lesson 1
This term we are going to study birds. We start with the simplest bird, chicks. We start our chick with an egg. We place 2 feet on the egg so it is a walking egg. Then we poke their heads out, lastly we add the wing and optional tail. This is a pencil study and ink outline. If you have friends who may want to paint with us. They are welcome to join in next week. It is a 12 weeks session. New students can still catch up.
We will perch some birds next week.
