Lesson 2 chicks and rocks

We move forward from last week's pencil drawing and ink outline of the chicks, into 3 simple strokes of head and body while maintaining the walking egg.  We emphasized the beak and eye relation, the legs and it's backwards bended knees.  Some students are still very frustrated with this challenge of painting birds, but their impression is forming gradually, the repeated focus on various birds eventually will develop their confidence. You may view their paintings displayed on the school hall way. I outlined some of their chicks to show them that it'll all workout.

We also contrasted the wet stroke for the chicks and the dry stroke for the rocks in this lesson.  I painted interactively with the students to help them with the form of the rocks. Nex week we will have fun coloring them.
